Cool build as I've followed it from the start. Keep the pics and updates coming.

Didn’t get much done over the weekend. Saturday I ended up tending to a sick wife and Sunday between church, food shopping, and spending time with my family just didn’t leave a lot of time to work on the car. I was able to find a little time Saturday morning where my mom could give me a hand measuring for the vinyl top.

My mom is a semi-professional quilter with a long arm machine in my parent’s basement so she’ll be able to sew it all. She thinks with 4 yards of material we’ll be able to do the roof, top of the dash, and a set of door panels.

Before I order the material I’m going to try making a pattern out of paper for the roof so we can get a proper measurement and be able to compare the size of what SMS sells to what I need to do everything.

Pictures are of the pattern my mom and I measured out for the roof, an old snap on toolbox I picked up for Marty that once cleaned I’ll put together a tool set for him to play with, and Marty figuring out how to make a ramp with his trains. I should’ve bought stock in the toy company that makes the wooden train stuff.

Having your Mom as a quilter will be a huge help in configuring how to make that top. My wife has been quilting for 34 years and has a long arm in it's own room in our lower level too.
Where did you find that tool box with Marty's name already on it, that is a "gotta have" item...
My son was given one of those train sets when he was young, but didn't play with it enough to expand, thank goodness. The cars may have wooden then too, If I recall ???

Yes the trains are still wooden too. My wife has been able to buy several sets on eBay rather than pay full price. Eventually we’ll move into actually O gauge train sets so I can spend more money on that lol. Pictured is one of the tracks Marty put together himself in the house.
And yes the tool box came up for sale about 2 hours away on fb marketplace. A friend at work sent it to me and I forwarded it to my wife. We made a day out of picking it up. Someone must’ve scrapped it and this guy sold it rather than scrap it. I think it was well worth the 50 bucks I paid. Someone must’ve really liked it to because it has a painting on the back of a guy riding an old Cat Bulldozer(I used to work for Cat and one of the first words Marty said is Ba for bulldozer). So I thought it was too cool to pass up.

I’m very lucky my mom has been quilting for a couple decades now. She’s not worried about making the top. More about getting all of the angles right and getting it glued down when needed lol.

Making patterns will be a big help in figuring out seams to use less fabric.
My son would always spit pacifiers out and suck on his 2 middle fingers too and seeing Woody brings back a lot of memories too. He was born in '96 and was young when those movies came out and he was enamored with them.
I still remember one of the lines from Woodie "talking". "There's a snake in my boot". Must have heard that a thousand times..LOL
