Question Headlite Upgrade...

Looking to upgrade the factory headlites on the 85 GMC square body...quad lites. Checked out local NAPA...they only offer halogen low beams.

Pretty sure LED will be too much, may not be ok with NYS for an older vehicle??

Lots of choices online...any suggestions are appreciated.

thanks, wilma

I'm cleaning out a garage with some square headlights. There were a couple new ones in boxes. Which ones are the 3 connector and which ones were just 2?

Tom, You may look into "Mad Electric". I bought a relay kit for my '70 Chevelle years ago and it made my headlights noticeably brighter. I've heard he's tough to get ahold of and some say it's nothing you cant source at the local parts store. His website is still up and if you go to "electrical tech" it may explain things better. Just a thought.

Post Headlites...

My local shop suggested these...from LMC.

Just installed a replacement antenna from them...fit pretty good.

Tom,

Something to consider, for Square Body trucks, is to add relays for the headlights. Sometimes there is just not enough juice getting to the headlights. GM added relays to the trucks later in the 80's. H4 LED conversions may require relays.

There are many tutorials and even pre made harnesses.

LMC Has a harness: https://www.lmctruck.com/electrical/...PLnWzEi17P-rQY
