a good chrome plater will make them look like new, probably better than new. Chrome is stripped, pits are filled, triple chrome process. Expensive yes, but at least they are not '59 Cadillac (Caddy, ha,ha) bumpers.

Exactly the point.
We know exactly what this means and do not want "better than new".

These are production line common cars.
Not works of art.

Really comes down to what you want.

We want them as close as possible to how they were when picked up by the original buyer new.

Not different on 69 Malibu or SS taillight bezel
Same part.

You may be thinking of the front turn signal lenses as they are different.

No, it's how parts are advertised and the description always includes they are from an SS even if 90% of the parts came off a Malibu. Seems sellers think they can get more from un-educated buyers and it still happens far too often.
