Since you mentioned the reading inaccuracy of the new sender, I checked the new and old sender side by side. You are correct: There is definitely a difference in the heights due to the bend of the float hangers. I adjusted the bends with a pliers so the new float hanger matches the old one. Hopefully it makes the reading more accurate this way.

Success! Gas gauge reads correctly. This is the reading after I put in 8 gallons. Long day...especially when you have to wait all day for amazon to deliver the lock-ring and O-ring that were missing from the fuel tank sender assembly.
