Unless it was encouraging people to NOT buy products from that manufacturer, I can't imagine why it would be illegal.

Call the Attorney Generals Office in the state in which you or the business resides and ask them. If they are concerned, they will follow up, or, possibly pass the information along to the manufacturer of the product on the sign in question for them to investigate.

I am curious about the story behind this and why it is a concern.

Do you really hate a local auto repair shop so much that you want to stick corporate lawyers against them?

I get it regarding misleading signs ... I remember planning a buddies stag and, having often passed a venue that had a sign out front that clearly stated "Nude Dancers", I thought it would be the perfect place to host the stag.

They weren't wrong ... they were nude dancers ... it's just that they all had way too much body hair and "dangly bits" NOT found on females

These people, and others who choose to hang misleading signs, need to be held accountable for their actions.

Reminds me of the time I ordered popcorn for a party, turned out it was actually packing popcorn ... oh the horror.

If the full story ain't presented, we're left to make up one
