I found a possible Holy Grail 1971 LS6 454 SS Chevelle. Many say they don't exist. I read a thread on here somewhere where a guy actually took the plastic off one and prepped it for a customer back in '71. Stories of 10 automatics and 4 4spd ls6's. How can I prove that the 1 my friend has is a true original factory 4spd LS6 1971 Chevelle? And what would be the potential value of said car?

Without indisputable paperwork proof, you can't prove that it's real.....just read the whole thread that fortim linked above and you'll see that you will be forever fighting an unwinnable battle.

Back in 1995 I bought a 71 El Camino out of Michigan it was a black LS6 automatic. Everything on that truck's was consistent with what it would have to be an LS6. All the motor numbers was dated and stamped correctly, The in dash tach was a 71 tach and had a 6500 redline. I done some research and got ahold of a document from Fran Preve and it stated there was 18 LS6 71 chevelles but did not know if any were El Caminos'. I sold the truck to Patrick MaGrooter(sp?). Steve Banker inspected it for him and was satisfied it was real. I always suspected it may have been a GM executives car.

Back in the '80s my brother had a '71 LS6 block that had the assembly line stamp and VIN on the deck. We were too young to care back then and the block was built and put in 3 different cars before being sold to someone in TN.

I would think that 50+ years later a legitimate car would have been discovered by now.

I do believe that the El Camino was the real deal, I bought it from a corvette guy that knew nothing about it and he had taken it in a trade. All the numbers and parts were correct, it had power windows, tilt wheel and turbo 400 trans. The options and location it came from was why I always suspected it to be a GM executives car.
