An Uncle of my wife's worked his entire career at a GM plant. He has always owned and driven GM ... until a few years ago.

He went to a GM dealership, interested in trading in. He wasn't happy with the $$ they offered for his present GM car and he was less than impressed with how many times he heard "oh, that doesn't come standard so it'll be $_____ extra" when pricing out a new GM replacement. Due to his dissatisfaction with the way things were going, as well as not feeling like he was being treated fairly/decently, he called an end to the discussions and walked (well, drove) away.

After taking a few days to think about his ordeal at the GM dealership, he starts to wonder how other manufacturers might treat him so he takes his car and heads to a Honda dealership. Honda offers him more money for his trade-in than GM did AND all those extra's he wanted? They came standard on Honda cars. One other thing he wanted that GM balked at ... Michelin tires. GM wasn't interested whereas the Honda salesman said "hey, if Michelin tires is what it takes for you to buy this car, consider it done".

Needless to say, the Uncle happily traded in his GM on a new Honda and, four years or five years later, he has traded that Honda in on ... yeppers, yet another Honda. He loves them.

If GM is treating people poorly AND selling sub-par product ... well ... that's not a good recipe for a long and profitable future.

As for the GM Turbo 4 ... I am hoping the failure mentioned in this thread is an isolated event as my in-laws just purchased a 2025 Equinox with that tiny engine (apparently they didn't learn anything from the Uncle about buying GM). Fingers crossed the miniscule engine holds up. I say 'miniscule' because I used to have an 1100 cc motorcycle bored out to 1260 cc way back when, this "car" engine is barely larger.

We have had 2021, 2023 and now a 2024 Equinox's.
Zero trouble.

2021 got hit in driver's door at 56 mph by a 2020 GMC 1500 4d 4wd.
In a 35-mph speed zone.
Curtain and seat air bags saved me.
Look at windshield post.
That was his hood hitting there and the only thing between his hood and my head was the air bag.
Seat bag saved my rib cage, and my pelvis broke the door panel also.
Dash was crushed also.
See pics.
I was driving and Ann was in pass seat.
She got 2 broken ribs from my pelvis bending- breaking console to the right 3 ".
No broken bones for me.

Very sturdy car.

Friends' wife has a 2019 with 187,000 on it.
Brakes, tires and battery the only repairs needed so far.

We have factory trailer hitches on ours.
They work fine.

Personal experience tells us you have a somewhat isolated problem.

Another indicator is the number of used 2018- newer engines available.
Pages and pages with some in OH having only 6- 12 miles on them.
Cheap also.
The super low mile ones are out of test cars that were damaged.
They cannot be sold complete- only parted out.
Very different story with 2017 and older.
ADDING
All that said I am not schilling for GM and would get really aggressive like Pete suggested as what they are doing is pure BS.

ADDING-
the "A" pillar [where front door bolts to body] is by far the sturdiest point of side of vehicle.
Crushed it [and the "B" pillar [where rear door bolts to body] but did not let the front of the pickup enter passenger compartment.

Both did their job.

My neighbor had total engine failure in her new High Country Tahoe, the dealer gave her a loaner, she had it for a couple months.

At a minimum I'd want a loaner, did you guys contact the GM of the dealership? I'd give that a shot. If nothing happens, maybe you should make a YT video with the dealer name in the title, keep it factual.

I want to thank the members who have reached out with suggestions and support.

I was really torn when I posted the engine failure of my daughter's 2025 Traverse. The case was escalated to the customer service executive committee and they have provided a loaner and have approved the repurchase of the the Traverse.

This is what I expected from GM initially, however I am pleased and so is my daughter's family. Btw this is her 4 Traverse and believes she will continue. In fact when I return to NY I will be purchasing a GM SUV in the spring.
