Several buildings here in downtown Guthrie are like that. Business downstairs, residence upstairs.

In fact, some of them are still apartments up there to this day. That pedestrian door on the left likely leads to a stairway that goes to the upstairs.

Correct me if I am wrong, but with the engine and trans being likely restamps, that POP is the only thing we have that "confirms" it as a true L-89 car, right?

If I owned the car, I would be tracking down the original owner. Easy enough to fine the owner of 833 Tonawanda St, Buffalo NY. Question would be whether the property was owner occupied or rented. But if building owner name and car owner name are the same; then it is just a matter of finding heirs / relatives to confirm early ownership.

Remember the fake 10 10 L89 that Edward O'Donnell sold at Mecum in 2014 or so?

Every bit of that car was fake. Fake POP with a real name and address of a deceased person. That person (Kenny) NEVER owned such a car. The only new car he ever bought was a Nova. Whoever faked the car probably got all Kenny's info from the Nova paperwork, created fake dealer docs, fake WS etc. Car had a fake tag, restamped engine and trans. Didn't even start life as a black car. Pretty sure title was "washed" and run through Georgia where they don't title antique cars.

So, pretty easy to do of you are sleazy enough.

Not saying that is the case with the 68 on BAT, but I would certainly do a LOT of homework before purchasing, even if I could live with a restamped motor.
