Block cast is 3969854
Stamp: T02191KB Can't figure out the extra "1" before the KB. Perhaps it's TKB, IKB, 1KB? Trying to ID this motor. I thought the following: T - Tonowanda 02 - Feb 19 - 19th day 1 - ????? KB (69 396/350 w/ manual trans) but TKB is 1972 Truck 402 Looking for date code casting as well. Any insight appreciated. It does have painted valve covers, not chrome. |

That stamp is TKB…….which is out of a 1972 402 out of a truck with an automatic.

Except this stamp has 8 characters instead of the usual 7. That's what is throwing me off. The 1 or T or I before the KB is an extra character. Is this a 69 396/350 or something else. If it was 7 characters without the 1/T/I character I'd agree. But not sure what the extra character means as to ID of this engine.

Late 1969 early 1970….they changed the suffix code from two letters to three. The first letter was a C for car or T for truck…..that’s why yours has three letter for the suffix code.

X-2, Just like Kurt said, C for Car & T for Truck when they went from (2) letter engine codes to (3) letter engine codes. I would guess the cate date is February 19 1972 You have a 1972 402 with an TH-400 Truck Engine. Bill
