I was probably one of the first people to have Cragars rechromed and pointing out the different cap styles etc. This was early 2000's. I had a set of 15x4's early style rechromed that are now on the "Going Thang" 429 '69'70 MustangPro Stock restoration.

I spoke to a production line manager at Cragar back in the mid 2000's regarding chroming other Cragars I had. The short answer was no. He said Cragar went to the flat spokes because polishing and plating was easier versus the more difficult rounded spoke. If Cragars saved a few $$ per wheel in labor that added up. He was very adamant this was the reason. It was all about Management's pressure to minimize cost. I still have my email somewhere asking if Cragar would rechrome my wheels and I was suprised he called me back. I had an old SEMA book from the early 90's and his name was in it.
