The Charger 500 made it's debut at the 1969 Daytona 500. Also debuting in that race was the Ford Talledaga which won the race. After building 392 units, Dodge abandon the 500 for the Charger Daytona. NASCAR never said a word about the missing 108 units needed to officially homologate the car.
The Maroon car above is the 1968 prototype. All 500s were built from 1969 Chargers. |
