Just stumbled on this old post. I owned the 70 LT-1 roadster in this thread about 20 years ago. When I bought it it smoked like a diesel. Freshened up the engine and discovered the piston rings had been installed upside down. The heads had been milled heavily and the pistons were +030 12.5:1. It might have had 13:1 compression. Cleaning it out there were time slips under the seat and it ran 12.8 on street tires with headers and full exhaust.

I did not have the GM Canada docs, but I did drop the tank and photographed the tank sticker and knew it was an LT-1. The engine block was stamped with the VIN and I believe I recall a CTK suffix, but the casting date on the block was 1974. I don't know how they came to note for the ad that it was a warranty block, I assumed an uneducated re-stamp on a bad date block.

Nevertheless it was a fun car. Wonder where she went after this.
