Default Pad Stamp

I am wondering why there is a ridge/rise in the pad area near the head. Is this some known casting normality? Or is it because it was cut down and they didn't get it set correctly?

----The broach marks look OK though. If so, I think your assumption of a step is really farfetched, though not, I guess, impossible. Is it possible that that the edge we see is the edge of the head gasket???....Bill S

That stamp is all wrong for a KC car.

Default Stamp

It was just another visual option. To me, it is too far out on the pad to be a gasket. I've never seen any gasket like that. Just looked like a little ridge. I could be wrong. I wish we could see a known stamp with some numbers blurred out....Danny
