The vin would not be on the trans but the # on the trans would match the POP.
I looked at this car at your dads a few years ago and I would love to look at the underside for a few hours. The car has flaws that show how they were off the line. The red tape on the positive cable is correct from the factory. Neat car that should be preserved.
