I removed the tank sticker off my 1969 427 corvette in 1994. Mine was pretty rough. However the important info was intact. I took a bunch of pictures. Then carefully removed as best i could. A good portion just crumbled to the touch. If you are planning on replacing the tank, I would cut the metal around the sticker and keep it attached. If not replacing the tank, leave it attached and in place. I'm sure the car will be kept in a garage going forward so no worries about the sticker being damaged further. Again, Lots of pictures. I'll add to the thread......
If it seems the least bit stubborn, leave it alone. Sometimes a real fine horse hair brush will help clean it. As mentioned, photograph it REALLY well. If you have not considered, submit it to NCRS for validation. It's a great way to further document it. Tim |
