Made it down to the Camaro Nationals in Frederick MD on Saturday. Here are some photos of the Carolina blue Z28. Awesome job Frank and Matt!

Pretty amazing car. What is the story with the stripe delete and special color stripe deal?

Thanks Rob for posting some pictures.
It was also a pleasure to have the original owner attend and see the car in its completed version for the first time since the mid 1970s |

GM had a color in 1970 that resembles that Blue and might be the same formula. Olds called it “Azure Blue”. My reasoning behind saying it could possibly be the same mix, is that the color on 1970 Oldsmobile Rallye 350 models is actually the same as 1969 Daytona Yellow on Camaro/Chevelle models. Maybe it’s the camera or lighting, but the restored car and the sample photo of a car with a vinyl top appear different. The 1970 color I’m referring to resembles the sample photo, and to my eyes looks much lighter/softer than the hue of the restored car (in the photos).

Checked the car out at Nationals and it’s restoration was what I would expect, top notch. And I like that unique colored Z/28...
Talked to Matt and Frank also as it’s been too long not seeing friends due to pandemic.

The RS/SS Camaro in the previous post and our Z/28 are 2 different colors. The Azure Blue is an Olds Buick color I believe, which is shown on the RS/SS in the previous post. The 2 Carolina Blue Z/28s (our Z/28 and the one that sold at Mecum in 2014) is actually a GMC color.

Great looking Z, the stripes help set it off.
That color is super difficult to photograph which is why you see various shades of it in various lighting. My Chevelle is factory Carolina Blue and almost every time I take a picture of it (with an old camera) it turns the color almost white in the photographs. Can't really get a good photo of it unless the lighting is almost dark or shaded. The more light it's exposed to the lighter the color gets. Interesting that a dealer in VA would order a car in a Tar Heel color. My Chevelle was ordered at Modern Chevrolet in Winston Salem NC. |
