I am surely naive, but I am rather surprised that--given the nature of ordering special cars back in the day--he couldn't find someone on the assembly line to have simply thrown an HO engine AND A/C with a 4spd. You'd think that wouldn't be too hard.
It's a shame that it sounds like he had nothin but problems.
