So, I found the pictures I had of the difference in the dent/recess between a non-HEI and HEI air cleaner for the '74 Z28s. I don't remember who I got them from, but I'm pretty sure it was a Nasty Z28 member. Credits go to him.
I'm wondering if I may have misidentified what Jason has. Jason, do you mind posting a head-on picture of the dent/recess in the air cleaner you have? Here's the pictures I have. HEI  non-HEI
