Here are more pics from Mather Point!
I love the layering of the cliffs against the background. If you walk 5 feet here, the view is completely different. Amazing! I had to take the pic of this wildflower for Holly  If you look in the lower center of this pic...you can see the Colorado and the rapids...

The first picture is looking towards Yavapai Point.
By the way, the Grand Canyon is at 6800 feet elevation-is over a mile deep and the other side (North Rim) is at least 18 miles away in most places. These pictures are from Yavapai Point! The first pic you can see the Colorado again in the center.... Holly (and Lynn) enjoying the view from afar

Holly and Lynn-with the Lookout Studio in the background Looking almost straight down... Here's a good shot of the Bright Angel Trail...heading towards the bottom...  You can see part of the Bright Angel Trail to the left...seeming to head off of a cliff in this shot

All of these pics were taken at the Bright Angel Trailhead...
The first two pics are at the beginning of the decent into the canyon These next three are wider shots showing the switchbacks during the decent. If you looks closely, you can see groups of people on their way down Lynn checking out the amazing views Lynn and Holly goofing! A father and his son going down the trail a bit... Another shot of the descent... The last three pics are the actual start of the trail-with Lynn and Holly

I hope you enjoyed the pics!
A few notes.... While we were there-this was the most uncrowded we've ever seen it. The temperature was an amazingly good 78 degrees...heading up to about 85. As we exited the park a bit after noon, the line to get into the park was 4 lanes wide-and close to 100 cars deep (or more). I should have taken a picture
