Interesting Mike - That opens the door for these tires being 1969 vintage. Since the universal code of 4 characters followed by 6 characters went in effect in 1973, my tires don't conform to that system - they are 4 characters followed by 7 characters. So, maybe Goodyear only coding prior to 1973?

After May, 1971, DOT coding format was the same for all tires. 10 digit which included (3-digit date code WWY) I believe sometime after 1978 it may have changed to 11 digit). I need to do some research to confirm... In 2000, and (12) digits (4-digit date code -WWYY)
