Great post Phil. Isn't the HP and torque limited in the first 500 miles on the C8?

Seems almost pointless to track it until all the ponies are unleashed. Almost, but I guess, still tons of fun.

Lynn,

I posted it because the mid engine makes fantastic sound. Running the two cars against each other with factory drivers would be pointless.

A 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS ran the ring at 6:56.4

The 2020 C8 Z51 ran the ring at 7:29.9

It is not even close...but that sound!

Yeah, but for the first time, I can say the Vette looks better, and for half the price. I think it's a major home run, for once.
Shame it only comes in an automatic.

Lets see what happens when the Zo6 hits the ring, for less dough.

I know everyone says it's an automatic but a dual clutch transmission is not an automatic in the traditional sense. It has no torque converter. It's a manual trans that requires no clutch input from the driver, no stick shift and has the ability to be put into automatic mode. It's a blast to drive in manual with the paddles though. It doesn't act like a traditional auto in automatic mode either. People that aren't used to a DCT will think something is wrong with it in the way that it takes off from a stop and drives in low gears.

After about 2 laps in it, I no longer cared that there was no traditional manual option.
