Yes, weird wild stuff! Two Airlines have shut down: Compass and Trans States. Those airlines were slated to close doors anyway since Trans States put the memo out a while ago that they would be closing doors April 1st. Compass lost several Major Airline feed contracts which put them in a precarious place. Those feeder airlines were on dire straights to begin with and this downturn was just the nail in the coffin, unfortunately. Sad for the guys hitting the street for sure, since I was there myself! And who knows? I might be again come the fall.
As Woj and others will tell you, being a pilot is cool as snot but NEVER forget it could all go away in a snap, so have a back-up plan!!!!
Last couple of flights I did only had about 20 people on them, but it’s better than zero. But the big reason we are still flying? Cargo. The bellies are full of medical supplies and other essential needs.
