He was so much fun to talk to.

I would purposely get him into bench racing discussions just to set him off and listen to his old stories. When I told him that the guy that he sold the car to back in 1982 or so, had given the car a tuneup it didn't need and threw away the original distributor cap, Rick dug through his records, found the guys phone number and called him up and yelled at him after hanging up with me.

Imagine having some random Octogenarian cold call you and start screaming at the top of his lungs about something that happened 30 years ago.

It was priceless. He was that curmudgeonly, lovable grandpa that everyone wished they had.

I was thinking about how to celebrate his life? I might have to save up some money and finally buy that set of new reproduction Goodyear Steelgard Radials that SmallHurst sells. The car needs to be driven more. Monday was the first time it left the garage this year. You think my son would forgive me if I didn't pay his college tuition installment this month? (in honor of Rick) :-)

Sorry to hear about the original owner - sounds like a neat guy to say the least.

Steve I think we all know how we can remember and celebrate Ricks life: Give us all that guys phone number or address and we'll ALL call and write to that guy about that missing distributor, he'll get a thousand calls and letters on Monday.

Just got off the phone with Rusty and ordered the set of G70x15 Steelgards. Hopefully they will be here this week in time for the last cruise of the year on Saturday.

Fingers crossed.

Steve, so how has the new Stangle road cruise been? Is it better parking then Main street? I am looking for something to go to this weekend and Flemington is a possibility. Kev

Pretty good, though the local businesses in the nearly empty outlets were complaining we were taking business away????? It's actually the only time in recent memory that they had full parking lots there with actual humans walking around.

You do have to park nose-in because they the police were trying to keep spectators from getting run over if they were walking around in the road.

I'll be there on Saturday hopefully with the SD. Around 3:30 to get a spot.

They finally started the sidewalk replacement on Main Street... four months late, of course. That was the entire reason they had moved the cruise over to Stangl Road- to allow the construction to begin in May...er September.
