Here's a more recent pic that may as well land here, unconfirmed but likely the same car.
Still called CheckMate w/ Tom Fletcher's name on it too but Gary Hettler on the hood.

That's the same car. Dan inherited the car when his Dad Tom died. He hit the NHRA circuit and never looked back. I know he has 100 or more Class Wins. Pretty sure this is what the car looks like today, past major sponsors were Summit Racing (with a 1/18 scale model) and K&N Filters. Dan is a class act with two sons following his lead.

I know of one other local Z/28 that also left Taylor Chevrolet and went straight to the race track.
