'66 Coronet #s 383/4-sp, Barn Find, 1 of 2293
Neat car with what looks to be the original dark blue paint and blue bucket seat interior. Obviously needs a lot of work and I'm not sure you could ever do a resto on this one without going underwater, but man, would it be a great car restored to original.
Always loved the clean styling of the '66-67 Coronet and GTX. I don't know why they don't bring more $$.... Link to 1966 Coronet 383/4-sp auction |

I gotta question ....... Why did dodge put the '' pentastar '' emblem on the passenger fender & not the drivers ? Always looked strange to me .

It's on the right side of the car so folks that walk by when it's parallel parked along the curb would see it. Consensus was (and pretty much still is) that most walk looking downwards and the pentastar was placed on that side and low so it could be easily seen and be associated with the Chrysler product. Some say it was for the passenger to know the car was a Chrysler product since the driver already knew, but that's not the case.
Notice now that later GM cars have the emblem on the fender now too Cheers Dave |

My GTX has the emblem on one side and always wondered what happened to the drivers side. I found out it was only on one side and never knew why. Thanks Dave!

Each time I look at this car I like it more. It's complete and the start of a great project. Build the 383 to 68-69 383HP specs like Road Runners and Super Bee's had, hemi suspension, dual circuit braking hydraulics and some 3.55's or 3.91's out back and drive the bejeezus outta it. I love seeing these blue collar cars in the sea of 440's, six packs and Hemis.

I got outbid, but that was ok. No fender tag Which, if you buy the car to do something fun with it, then who cares? I just like to have my Mopes have that tag. He does have the original manuals with orginal owner info. One can only assume that the Broadcast sheet is still in that backseat (or elsewhere) but by the looks of the mice activity, hopefully still there If so, you could get one made I think. But the BS has the info regardless.
Really would love to do a Day 2 Nostalgia drag car out of this one! Hoooo....humm.... Cheers Dave |
