Ad seems confident its a TH350. If it is actually a TH400, I would guess that the factory A/C triggered an upgrade. I've shared before that I had a '69 Firebird 350/2bbl with A/C that had a TH400. It was an untouched car that I couldn't figure out why it had that transmission. Apparently engineering decided that was needed for the application. I'd be curious as to the reasoning.
