Did evaporust hurt the chromate finish on the carb body, or the zinc plating on linkages?

Evaporust will remove most finishes - zinc chromate, gunblack, black phosphate, etc. It can also attack some types of potmetal so keep an eye on anything non-ferrous going into the liquid.
