Happy Remembrance and/or Veterans Day to all of you. With it being the 100th anniversary of the armistice ending WWI our local newspaper yesterday had numerous articles about local guys who lost their lives in WWI. A local historian made a trip to France (northeastern part) recently and visited cemeteries where many American veterans from WWI are buried. Their group met an elderly French woman who couldn't thank them enough for what the Americans did to save her country.
My mother would have been 100 today. One of her aunts, as the story goes, wanted her sister to name her Armistice, but luckily my grandmother said no, and my mother was named Lillian.
