There is something about the color blue in plastic,that makes it dry out,crack,shrink more then other colors.I was told years ago to stay away from Blue plastic HO slot car bodies because they crack faster then others over time.
Something about the indigo ink in blue IIRC.
Wonder if this is the case here.
