By 1972' my son's Malibu has them.

The 1970 Chevelles I have observed over the years are: SS are round and Malibu is oval. I think the extra rubber in the oval bushing would give a softer ride.

I'm with him. My experience is 95% 1970 Chevelles. If I was looking at a '70 SS and it had oval bushings I would be very skeptical about the rest of the car IMO. I can't speak for Buick, Olds and Pontiac.
