Never understood why Chevy mentioned "...the new 'Vette type 4 wheel disc brakes" in Z/28 print ads when they were not ready at the start of '69 production.

What was the hang-up? All the engineering was done early in '68. JL8 is listed in the '68 Assembly Instruction Manual. Many of the parts were production Corvette. The rear axle shafts & housing had slight changes but nothing major.

Maybe last-minute issues came up in testing. I believe that is why the wheels were revised [AD to YH] due to contact with the calipers in cornering. That change wasn't made until late December '68; earliest known car was built late February.
