You can go darker with fabric dye like RIT. The trick is added vinegar to the solution which allows the dye to bite into the nylon. I have only done lighter belts to black. I don't know if it would be possible to go lighter or change from a color like blue to red. Light green to black should be doable. I have also seen guys spray belts with fabric dye and the results are not very good. The belts get stiff and just don't look right. Find a crappy belt and start with that. That way you won't ruin a nice set that are just the wrong color.
