The 228 on the front is of course the Julian calendar date or 228th day of the year. You can barely see it, but that appears to be a number 8 after the 22, making it 228. On the back is the code for the model or application, but that appears to be cut off and only shows 851 maybe? There should be 4 digits but its been cut off or misaligned stamped. Sure looks like 851 for a start of the 4 digit code. That booster looks just like a Camaro/Nova/Chevelle booster, but I'm like you, that special holding bracket has me puzzled. That booster depending on the length of shaft, could be used for several applications like Buick Apollo, Olds Omega, Pontiac Ventura, Early 70's GTO, Nova, Camaro, and maybe Chevelle. I'm sure someone else on here will be of more accurate help.
