That is amazing. Apparently GM made changes to that bracket so it would fit either 7 or 8 inch balancer. I am guessing the ones I have are for pre Aug 67 cars. Or, maybe as modified, it got a different part number, but they kept making the other one for 7 inch balancers. Reason I mention that, is that my 68 El Camino (Dec. 67 build) had a different version that looks very similar. Did not have the gusset between the two vertical sides. I added one when I modified it. I just didn't cut off as much of the part that interfered with the 8 inch balancer.
Thanks for your help. I will post pics of the one on my El Camino.

Lynn, I agree with you on the over-the-counter having all inclusive part #. Here are pix of L79 and L30 (275 horse) brackets installed ('67 Chevelles).
