Bob, I'm glad you brought this up as my Chevelle was purchased by Robert (Bob) Chalupa in 1977 from the Chicago area. He said that he bought it from some "Punk kid" who raced the car down by some "Railroad tracks" in Chicago but he couldn't remember where. Maybe someone can help me out on this.
Bob said the kid raced the car without the hood on and had to go back to the kids house to get it. The for sale ad I have for my car says it has a tri-power setup. Great stories everyone.....keep them going.  Kurt
