Default crash course on 2017 Z06 corvette info...

My neighbor just got a 2017 Z06 corvette convertible, and I realized my focus on old muscle cars and old vettes has left me in the dark on a car like this.

Is there anything unique about these cars I could bring up in conversation with him? He thinks I am the car guy because I have all these old cars, I am not sure he is, other than when he buys something, it is usually the highest optioned version. I am surprised he had to have it brought in from out of state and we live in Chicagoland!

I get to see the car in person Saturday....and get a ride. Bright yellow w/ black top, black wheels, small black spoiler in back...very very pretty ride.

All I can say is if he's new to quick cars, you may not want to be the passenger if you know what I mean.

That's a great point I did not think of! I think I will go for a ride but I will make sure he does not get goofy. I won't either. I actually put a coworker's few day old 90 300ZX in a ditch once. Turned out a 300Z with sticky new tires does not drift around a complete cloverleaf, like a 83 fiat spider with worn tires. Who would have thought. I won't tell him about that......

After a ride in the Z06 you wont want to drive the old cars any longer.
Oh and hold on.

I agree with L78 Steve. I bought a '16 Coupe M7 Z06, and went to the Ron Fellows driving school in Vegas. Learned a ton about the car, and how to drive it on the track. Then with an instructor for half a day at the Carolinas Motorsport Park drove the car. The second half of the day drove by myself. Car is just so bad ass is all I can say. If you want check out the two youtube videos. The first one is with the instructor coaching me. It is more interesting.

well I got to see the car Sunday, and it was too cold to take out.

I did learn why he had to go out of state, he said dealers only get an allotment of 1-2 cars, and to order one takes forever, and dealers likely will not swap. It seemed with this car, you either take what the dealer has, or order and wait for 12 weeks because the more options you want, the longer it takes.

That one with the instructor was good, will share with my neighbor. That car is actually a pretty good value when compared to other cars costing twice as much.

I think Z06's are a lot of car for the money.
