My son and his friend went up to Winnepeg to go ice fishing last week. Bemidgi Mn. was -20 F when they arrived last Thurday night, he said it wasn't bad without wind! Ah to be that young again when -20 F was exciting to be out in.

It was 2 degrees here in Jersey the other day and right now it's 52...so I pulled the truck out and washed the salt off.

I like playing with the diesel in the winter because it is very rewarding when you get it runnin' right so it starts up.

Here is is, on the 2 degree morning, starting right up:

(I'd love to know how to actually link a video link from photobucket or my own computer. None of the formats work in the "upload video" tab on the toolbar above the text box)

All is well. It takes at least one more second than the video shows, for the electric gauge to start showing some pressure. The 6.5's have this stupidly designed oil pressure sending unit that doubles as a high amperage power feed to the lift pump. After 22 years of ownership I know all the little idiosyncrasies of these things. It's a fun challenge to keep it on the road.

That's because they were likely drinking Canadian Rye Whiskey followed by 6.5% beer as a chaser. The only way to fish around Winnipeg when it's cold. I lived there for 21 years.
