I am helping a friend whose husband passed away unexpectedly in his early 50's and left her this car. She knows nothing about it other than he had owned it for around 7-10 years. He bought it as an unfinished project with the paint and bodywork done. He finished the mechanics and trim. I just learned about the existence of the car last week.
Here is what I have been able to ascertain about the car and will describe it to the best of my ability. It is an original SS 396 Gold car with Black bucket seats and convertible top. It was a factory 4 speed with factory a/c. The car now has none of it's original driveline including the rear end. It has a crate 350, T 350 automatic, and 10 bolt rear. The car runs very well with excellent throttle response. The Vintage A/C works as does the heater. The aftermarket radio does not work. Has tilt steering and single piston front disc brakes. As you can see the car is now Red. The quality of the paint is very good with a couple of nicks. The right quarter was repaired at some point with a skin just below the body line. I could find no rust in the car. The frame is excellent as are the floors and trunk pan. The is a little discoloring under the trunk mat. There is no jack assembly. Excellent top and top frame with nice plastic rear window. I did not try to take the top down but she is sure it works. It has a power top. The car needs nothing except a little tweak here and there. It is a very nice driver. From a restoration standpoint it would take an entire drivetrain to make it right but it is a pretty rare 4 speed with air convertible. $42.500 More pictures on request. 760-802-9376 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Was the car vin swapped or converted into a convertible?

Oh boy!! I posted these tags on this site before I listed the car for sale because I am not that familiar with 67 Chevelles. I had very little response so I went ahead and listed it. I have no idea what the history of this car is but I will certainly have a talk with the widow of the owner and explain things to her. She isn't going to be happy!!
It goes without saying this car is no longer for sale until I can help her figure things out. |

Was the frame different for convertibles in 67 or was it the same as the coupe?
