The pictured belt was an extra one Chuck had, not one of the belts in his Chevelle. The extra one turned out to be broken too.

That's a '73 belt. Infamous "exploding buckles", happens to just about all of them. If you find a good one get an old male buckle and store in it as it takes the pressure off the poorly designed plastic insert on the buckle.
