Default 1970 Chevelle throttle bracket

Working on installing a 4150 Holley on a 396 equipped Chevelle. First off the current bracket places the cable to far forward. So I am looking for suggestions on the needed bracket. Here is what I have. Also what is up with the bracket that is being used to retain the cable, is that supposed to be there?

I wanted to add some background on the car as I think this is a neat story. My father purchased this car in 1974 while he was in the Army. He sent money home to have his parent purchase him a car. Ultimately a 1970 Chevelle ss was purchased. It was cranberry red, red bucket seats white stripes and vinyl top. When it was purchased it had a 396 installed, but was originally a 454. My father had the car untill around 1985 when he sold it to a guy in town. One day about 20 years ago I was going through pictures and found one of the car. It made a lasting impression on me and I was always dreaming of the car. A name of the buyer was dropped to me one day so I looked him up in the phone book and gave him a call. He still had the car! Of course it wasn't for sale. Years went past and I still couldn't shake the car from my thoughts. I bought numerous old Fords, but still dreamed of the Chevy. Several years back I reached out to him again on facebook- still had the car and still not for sale. Last year after some unfortunate events a deal was finally made on the car. However, it didn't end there. The car was sitting on some land that didn't belong to him for storage. After a year of negotiations she was finally released to me

The car was well known in the area in the 70's and my father knew the guy that he bought it from in 1974. This guy is still around so He was contacted for some info. He bought the car in 1973 out of Colorado. He said the 454 burned 7qts of oil coming home so he had it rebuilt. He then had a friend that was wanting to stick the engine in a camaro for racing. He said he had a kid on the way and needed the money so he traded the motor for a 396 and 500.00 shortly after the swap he sold it to my dad. Car is Arlington built in March. I have not found any build sheet to prove that it was a LS6 but believe it to be. It has 454 emblems in 1974, Malibu door panels, boxed control arms, 6500 red line, 12 bolt.

That bracket is a fine piece of someone's engineering skills.....the back half of that bracket is home made.....pretty clever if I may say so
But certainly not correct.

Won't the rear gear tell if it was an LS-6? Did LS-6's have malibu door panels?

CRW is correct for a 70 454 Chevelle and I think I have a few photos in my database with that date. See if it also has the 9210 Pinion flange as seen by the numbers cast into the face of the flange. A few plants used the Malibu door plaques due to the B22 code (SS door plaque) not being called out on the buildsheet. Leeds was the best for doing this while others did as well.
