Scott -- When I bought my 69' W-30 442, one of the selling points was the advertised "select-fit" 400 engine ... is this what you are referring too above? Thanks ... TAZ
Taz, not sure what you mean ............. what I am saying is, that with Kenny's build using stock parts, but "his" blue print, we picked up about 12% more HP over the factory build ....... Yes, the factory did "Select Fit" builds on curtain motors ... however, a master engine builder doing a perfect blue print can gain about 10-12% HP increase over stock or "Select Fit" factory

Agree -- much difference between "select-fit" and a "blue printed" engine ... TAZ

Block decking/cyl head milling. chamber equalized, correct cam lift and rocker ratio verified, oil control, degree cam, carb tricks, etc
Results are nice and not out of line of what should be normal numbers for a non factory, assembly line type rebuild
Even with all this , shows what these dinosaurs need to even try and make 1 hp per cubic inch

to add to the value of blueprinting, there is a nice booklet that bill thomas did on taking apart the 65 L78 for a vette, and redid it to ideal specs and got 500HP out of it (vs the 425 spec).

75HP gain just by getting everything perfect. A little more than a 15% gain.
