Why are you still using a wet battery?
I got rid of mine when the industry came out with the solid R-59 Gel many many years ago.

I had your problem and it was usually do to a cell being too full of electrolyte/distilled water,or the cell not being able to breathe due to the cap filters being clogged and needed cleaning.
I'd clean by soaking in a 50/50 mix of baking soda & water periodically.
