|  Fuel sending unit repair 
			
			The fuel sending unit on my 74 z/28 is dead so after looking to no avail for a replacement, I have decided to have this one rebuilt. Seems like the 74 is a bit different than other years and I want one that fits right. Anyone used these places to get one rebuilt?? Bobs Speedometer in Howell, Michigan Tri Starr (Dan O'Hora) in Seneca Falls, NY Thanks for any input

			Usually it is just the strap that comes out of the sender resistor loses contact. You can take the clip off the top of the stud where the sender wire would attach to and clean up the stud and strap and put it back together. You could test it with a ohm meter touch the strap at the bottom of the stud and see if you have continuity and then touch the top of the stud and see.

			Just went through the same problem with Gramma's 75 Firebird on the sending unit. (74 and 75 Birds and Camaros used the same sender). 			Thanks guys.I can see the clip at the top looks somewhat suspicious on the strap. Car only has 33,000 on it so I never thought it would be this. I cant get it to read anything but 0 ohms. It actually looks simple to take apart and clean up. Steve, yes it is the dual fuel line type with lines running up both sides. Sounds like the same setup. I'll have to go through that thread and see if I can find it. I did find it on pages 15-16, not sure if I want to go that route. Im going to try to get it working, if not I'm sending it in.

			Well I sent this sending unit out to Bob's Speedometer in Michigan on March 10th and got it Back on April 15th. Put it back into my car and it works perfect. So it was a 5 week turn around. I was told 2-3 weeks, but maybe they were busy. Anyways I am just happy I have a fuel gauge that works again!! I am happy with their service.

			Good to know Jonsey! My 74 Z had some weird gas gauge readings last time I had it out. I was thinking I might have to go though the same thing you did.

			I think it was something to do with the clip at the top of the strap. This would be the pin the brown wire connects to. It wasnt making a good connection is my suspicion. I was getting an open reading and my gauge was pegged over full. If you take the brown wire thats connected to the sender and ground it out, the gauge will go to empty. Then you know its not your gauge.
