Back in 1990 I had bias ply tires (Goodyear Polyglas F-70-14 front, Kelly Charger G-60-14 rear) on a '70 Nova I drove daily. I didn't think it was that bad. Pulled around a bit on roads with ruts, or grooves, but not dangerous or scary by any means.

Mark - since you are from the 'burg, you might recall the stretch of Rt 51 leaving the west end circle used to be heavily grooved concrete pavement. That is where I felt the bias plys the most. It would dance around on those grooves a bit. [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/laugh.gif[/img]
