Here's another rare prototype Chevy highrise manifold that I used to own. Part number was 0-226597 with a 3-14-64 date. I've never seen another one.

Mike,
Look at how close the upper hole is to the rim of the head. A fully captured hole might have interfered with the valve cover. The slotted holes are reminiscent of the 409 for the same reason.
