Re: 1971 T-37 Post Sedan
I met the owner a few years ago at PSMCDR, he had steel wheels and honeycombs.
Nice guy, by memory he put a fresh HO 455 in it. By memory it was a fresh survivor car now upgraded with stripes, white top, HO drivetrain etc. Looked pretty cool with the more simple paint scheme. Ryan

Re: 1971 T-37 Post Sedan
As a kid I recall remember seeing many more T-37's on the road than any other variant of Tempest or Lemans. I don't know if it was true, probably not, but they caught my eye. For this reason that's likely why I remember seeing them around. Contrary to what we see today, I don't remember lot's of GTO's in my part of the world.
Since I didn't have my drivers license my world was limited to the cars in my neighborhood, parking lots, or through the car window whenever my parents took us places. LOL. The really cool one was the 1970-71 GT-37. One of my friends parents had a '71 GT-37 which I always figured was some sort of GTO back then because it had 455 badging on it. It looked cool with bucket seats, dual exhaust with tips, rally II wheels, and white letter tires. I thought the T-37 was an upscale Tempest hardtop until started seeing T-37 2-door post and 4-door sedan models. Most recently a T-37 post was shown at MCACN. My thought process was "T" for Tempest and "37" for hardtop but maybe not. Continuing on that theme I figured the GT-37 was a T-37 with the GTO package - hence the "G"T-37! Whatever the idea these were cool cars, and a T-37 gave lots of bang for the buck...maybe lower insurance, while still going fast with the available 400 RA-III engine (without RA hood) and 4-speed! |
