Default Re: Lowest milage 69 Yenko Camaro?

As for new 1/4s on "The Gambler".....don't know when they were installed, but likely the restorer thought it was the best thing to do. In hindsight, repairing the originals would've been preferable.

That was probably don back when complete panel replacement was standard on restorations. If a fender had rust down low it was replaced instead of repaired. The thought was that you had this nice new panel so you should replace it all. I have always tried to keep as much original metal as possible. Now that is the accepted method. There was a time when rebodies were accepted, now they are looked down on. In the 70's and 80's when the cars were just old used cars guys painted them with wild schemes so they did not look like boring factory cars. I just look at the time frame a car was first restored to understand what would have been done to it. Cars that could have been "preserved" as survivors were restored because in order to get respect they had to be shiny show cars. Drag car mileages are not actual mileages. There speedometers were disconnected most times. When I worked at a track I tech inspected a local 70 Cuda 440 6 pack Super Stocker now for sale and advertised with 16 miles.
