Received the NCRS documents today for my Chevelle and had a couple of questions to put to you guys.
I have the POP, dealer invoice, build sheet etc for this car that tells me the car was sold at Central Chevrolet in Atlanta Ga. My NCRS report tells me that the car was originally delivered to Roy Davis Chevrolet/Olds in Calhoun Ga, approximately 65 miles away. Now I have read here and elsewhere that, as still happens today with new cars, there was a bit of horse trading between dealers for stock and the seller of the vehicle was not always the dealer that ordered the car. Here is where it gets cloudy for me, as the build sheet has Central Chevrolet on it, GM has had the order placed by that dealer? If this is the case how could it have been delivered to Roy Davis in the first place? If the order for the car to be built was from Central what part, if any, does Roy Davis play in this? The production date on the NCRS report is 08/15/69 and the scheduled number date on the build sheet in box 10 reads 53 08-14. So they are close. Like all things, I go into the whole paperwork scenario with my eyes open knowing something may not always be as it seems. I also could be missing something as a lot of this is a learning process for me. I'll open it up to the floor. Your opinions are appreciated.

Dealer trade, then they decided they wanted to sell the car after all-Zone rep was involved in the order

There is also the possibility of a "Courtesy Delivery". Mainly used for fleet accounts, courtesy deliveries are when a unit was ordered and sold by one dealer and the car gets shipped to and delivered from a different dealership. The original ordering dealership is credited with the sale.

Maybe they misread the dealer code on the microfilm? If it was a courtesy delivery, it would have said so on the build sheet. Sounds like something isn't right.

I agree, ask them to recheck the information, it could be when they looked up the dealer name, the directory they used was not current or they might have misread the dealer number on the converted microfiche. Did you try to confirm that the dealer number they supplied is the same as the dealer number on your documents?

I will ask the question to confirm the NCRS info is correct.
The NCRS dealer number is 154 in Zone 8. Buildsheet dealer number is 97 in Zone 8. Interested in any comments regarding the build sheet. ![]()

No offense but that sheet looks like a reproduction for numerous reasons. Atlanta cars used a different format on part of the sheet though admittedly I am basing this on 1970 sheets not 1969 but I believe they were the same both years.

Rick, no offense taken. I did my best due diligence in 2013 before I bought the car which included talking to the guy who originally restored the car who told me that he found the build sheet in the car. I was sceptical then, and am more so now. There are a few anomalies with the build sheet that are apparent to even a novice like myself. I will say that the guy that I bought the car from was an honest, stand up guy who told me prior to purchase that he didn't think the build sheet was legit.

even today cars are delivered to dealers other than what the window sticker says. A local chevy dealer has chevy trucks for the GSA and address is in kansas. The trucks were drop shipped in madison,wi. for use by the GSA office here. But even today, i could buy a new car at Courtesy in phoenix and have them deliver it to any chevy dealer in the country.
