If you are going to rebuild your steering box I would consider doing a fast ratio conversion. It really tightens up the steering and greatly improves directional stability of the car all while looking dead stock. I did the conversion when I rebuild my steering box on my 69 Z28 and I'm very happy with the results. I used a local company in Canada but you can check out www.powersteering.com he does the conversion and restores the exterior of the box.
