In addition to what Rick said, a later printing will not have discontinued part numbers in it. That makes it useless if you're trying to find a part number from an nos part. If you own a '68, then you need a P&A printed in '68 to have all the original numbers.
Parts History books are also valuable to have in case your NOS part has a superceded number.
